CUSTODIOL® (HTK SOLUTION)

Custodiol^® HTK (Histidine-Tryptophan-Ketoglutarate) solution is indicated for perfusion and flushing of donor kidneys, liver, pancreas and heart prior to removal from the donor or immediately after removal from the donor. The solution is left in the organ vasculature during hypothermic storage and transportation (not for continuous perfusion) to the recipient.

Due to high systemic tolerance, all kinds of operation procedures in ischemic organs are possible; e.g. heart surgery, kidney tumor-resection and split-liver-donation.

Custodiol^® HTK (Histidine-Tryptophan-Ketoglutarate) is a clinically proven flush and preservation solution used for multi-organ protection (heart, liver, kidney, pancreas and lungs).

Custodiol^® HTK solution is a ready to use high flow, low potassium solution designed to remain in the organ vasculature during hypothermic storage and transportation to the recipient surgery. At just 10 mmol/L, the low potassium content of Custodiol HTK makes preflushing the solution from the organ unnecessary prior to implantation.

Custodiol^® has been used in almost 2 million cardiac procedures in Europe.

NOTE: Custodiol^® has not yet been submitted for regulatory approval in the Nordic countries. Individual permits from local health authorities must be obtained prior to use.
